The history of Ikenobo is the history of ikebana. Ikebana began with Ikenobo and although over the past 500 years other schools have branched off from Ikenobo, Ikenobo is said to be the origin of ikebana. Ikenobo's history encompasses both the traditional and the modern, the two continually interacting to encourage new development in today's ikebana.
Founded in 1991, our chapter is celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. Several members of our chapter have been active members for all of this time. If you are interested in learning about Japanese flower arranging, please come to one of our meetings. Visitors are always welcome.
Meetings of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society Blue Ridge Chapter are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m., St. John in the Wilderness Parish House, Route 25 & Rutledge Drive, Flat Rock, North Carolina.
